Glow-sticks, amplified sound, brooms, buckets, uniforms
Marcus Neustetter’s performance Erosion asks questions about contemporary and consumerist popular culture in public space. Working with imported glow-sticks from China that only have a functional life-span of a few hours, Neustetter invades public spaces, drawing attention to conceptually relevant sites and unexpected audiences. Drawings with light and working with a team of performers to sweep (with amplified sound) through streets, parks and squares at night, Neustetter explores popular and cultural spaces as well as buildings and urban details that capture his attention. The result is a documented journey bringing light and temporary articulation to these spaces.
