SCHLOSS LIND, STYRIA, MAY-NOVEMBER 2025
THE ZoNE HAS created several artistic interventions at Schloss Lind/ Das andere Heimatsmuseum in Styria, Austria this year. Under the title of REWILDING there are various installations, performances and an artist book.
The “re” of “rewilding” cannot simply stand for “rewinding,” going back(wards) to nature.
The “re” of “rewilding” must stand for “regeneration,” “reconnection,” and “reframing.”
The problems of modernity are philosophical at heart, rooted in our attitude towards ourselves, each other, and the natural world.
This attitude shifted from one of participation, to one of possession, exploitation, and control. We have removed ourselves from nature, abstracted ourselves from the web of life. We have disenchanted our world, and thereby fragmented our experience.
Any solution to the problems of modernity, to our metacrisis, requires a change of attitude. Rewilding is first and foremost a shift of frame, escaping our alienation, and, following that, a practice that re-embeds ourselves into nature, that re-enchants the world.
To rewild the world, we must also rewild ourselves.
